A letterpress delight

When I signed up to receive the 2012 Betty & Bing Letterpress holiday card I knew that I’d be in for a treat. When I opened the beautiful hand-calligraphed envelope that I found amongst my mail earlier this week, I wasn’t disappointed.

Micheline Courtemanche of Lunenburg’s Betty & Bing Letterpress is as skilled with a pen and ink as she is a print press – I took a calligraphy workshop that she led in April 2012 and was amazed at (and just a tad envious of) her lettering skills. To see her lettering on the envelope in my mailbox was lovely, I don’t think my name has ever looked prettier!

The card inside was also stunning. A beautiful bauble, formed from the finest of lines, in a delicate design that brought back memories of my childhood Spirograph (remember those?). All printed by hand on an antique letterpress. I love it, thanks Micheline!

A little note: The deadline has passed for signing up for this year’s card, but worry not, you can already sign up for the 2013 holiday card over on the Betty & Bing website. I definitely recommend it for those of you who like to receive pretty things in the mail!
